Product Description
The RUTE 202 has been improved for 2006. It has been redesigned with a thinner PVC handle to improve the comfort and control of this popular model. Perfect for the player who wants to really dig in while still retaining the classic Rute sound. Seven dowels (.188") surround a thicker center dowel (.250"). L=16 3/8", Handle thickness = .750" Vic Firth offers a complete line of Rute, designed to provide the player with alternative sounds and feels across a variety of musical settings. Unless indicated, each Rute model features premium birch dowels secured in a birch drumstick handle. The handle provides a natural feel and can also be used for back beats, cross rim work and intricate patterns on the cymbal bell. A moveable band adjusts the effect from crisp to splashy.

High quality - durable - Vic Firth products are the best. For years I used the original Vic Firth Rute - with the thinner rods - not sure of the model number. They are more flexible, can be used for softer songs and make a softer sound when used in the drums. But with the thinner rods - they take less of a beating when used on the side ( and not top) of the hi-hats. I would get about one year out of a pair before I had to replace them because I had broken so many of the rods. I tried this model, which has much thicker rods with the hope that they will last longer. So far this model is meeting my expectations.
