The Champion 4 Elongated Combination two-piece toilet is constructed of vitreous china, a type of ceramic fired at high temperature to form a non-porous body coated with a ceramic glaze which is fused to the body. It features the Champion 4 flushing system, which has a 4-inch piston action accelerator flush valve with a chemical resistant flapper. This toilet is available in white, bone, linen, silver, and black.

It is ideal for busy and/or large households. The Champion will move a mass 70 percent larger than the industry standard. It achieves the highest MaP bulk removal rating--1,000 grams--and will even flush a bucket of golf balls! 4-Inch Accelerator Flush Valve Champion 4 toilets feature a four-inch piston action accelerator flush valve that allows 360 degrees of water to be released into the bowl in less than a second with nothing to impede the flow of the water, thus allowing more water to enter the bowl more quickly for a more powerful and cleaner flush. It pushes water into the bowl three times faster than a standard two-inch flush valve. That's also one-third faster than a 3-1/4-inch flush valve and almost twice as fast as a three-inch flush valve.

I have an original champion toilet which had issues with the flush valve. The champion 4 toilet has a redesigned flush valve that is better built and appears to be a more reliable design. In terms of flush power vs. the old design, it appears to me--to be about the same, possibly slightly less...I wouldn't say it is much less, like the other reviewer mentioned...I would like to see american standard's view of this. Overall I would highly recommend the champion 4 toilet with the new flush valve. There is no better toilet with a better warranty on the market with this kind of gravity flush power at 1.6gallons per flush. Also, the new flush valve is quieter than the old one. The old design had the right idea, but had very poor execution. The new design seems to have great execution. If you have an old champion with the old flush valve, call american standard and they will send to you free the champion 4 flush valve and is a simple install/replace.

This product is advertised as capable of a forceful flush due to its design. It delivered that for about a year until the flush valve broke.
The original flush valve has been discontinued, most likely for the reason above. Its replacement generates a flush which is a third as powerful as the original valve.
There is no excuse for this. A flush valve has nowhere near the complexity of, say, a computer or digital camera, yet these products typically last for years without failing.

I put an enlongated adult height one in 1 bathroom summer of '08 (maybe after some re-dos from previous Champ 4 models??) and liked it so much I put a round regular height in another bathroom 6 mo later. I have never needed to plunge either. I have children, and a wife who is an excellent cook. Both toilets have been put through significant tests. I don't care how many golf balls it can flush, I care what % of a roll of toilet paper it can. There have been a few times where 2 or even 3 flushes have been needed (wait for the bowl to slowly drain first or it will over flow!) but never have I had to plunge. As for install, all I did was follow the instructions carefully and both have worked without issue ever since. It truly is water conservative because 99 times out of 100 only 1 flush is needed (unlike other low-flow toilets).
