This is a very nice quality, easy to put together, little drum set. Perfect for banging on, not too expensive, but of sufficient caliber to allow for improved performance. It has a chain driven drum pedal, and thick wood drum walls. The drum heads and cymbol are quite adequate for the intended user and the drumsticks are even appropriately sized. People ask how can you put up with loud drum banging and I just let them know about some of the other noises he is capable of producing and how drumming is actually one of the more tolerable options available. This kit is meant to be used as a starter kit for kids. As that type of kit, I think it does the job pretty well (specifically the really young kids). For kids a bit older (my son is 8), this is pretty small and does not sound good enough. We have a full size kit so he knows the difference and will not touch this.Why 5 stars then? For my intended purpose, I needed a small kit that I could use on our small house studio/music room. I also intend to use it when playing a small gigs (just parties and jams - no, I'm not a pro drummer). The full size drum was just too big and heavy (Yamaha Stage Customs). So I was looking for something really small and portable and will not dominate a small studio (specially when playing rock music).
