 Great heads when you really want to "hear the drum", By Janice Chiaretto (Sturbridge, MA, US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Evans EC2 Coated Drum Head, 14 Inch (Electronics) Actually I'm Jan's drummer/percussionist hubby and I love these heads. I was a devout Remo guy for more than 25 years (with one digression to Aquarian that didnt really work out) and still run clear Pinstripes on my live kit and coated Ambassadors on all my snares. But I now use these EC2(s) on my Yamaha Stage Customs for recording work on my 12, 13, 14, and 16 inch toms and love them. They tuned up nicely after a play-in period, and sound great with the right micing. Nice warm tom sound, fairly quick decay, and no ring or overtone when paired with Remo Diplomat resonant heads. I am guessing these are not good heads for heavy rock and very loud situations where your drums are not miced because they dont have the punch of a single clear head like a Remo. But if youre playing that loud youre probably not looking for the subtlety of the drum itself anyway. good for fusion and rock, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Evans EC2 Coated Drum Head, 14 Inch (Electronics) good for fusion and rock....not good for bebop or trad jazz.
