The brass finish on the old ones had discolored and peeled. They were bought before Moen offered the current lifetime guarantee. I think they were damaged by contact lens saline solution or other mildly corrosive cleaners. They also became very hard to turn on/off even though I took them apart periodically to clean and lube them. The new ones replaced very easily, taking about an hour for each remove old/install new. The instructions are clear and the new faucets fit together exactly like the old ones as regards hot/cold supply lines and waste connections. They are a very handsome, mellow brass color and operate very smoothly. Note that I have done home handyman jobs for many years including plumbing and electrical. This install would take more time for a beginner and the instructions might not be clear enough. I hope that the finish holds up or that Moen stands behind... I found the pressure to be a little lower than the previous one I had but it's fine for the small basin in the guest toilet. Only problem I found is the copper pipes at the bottom were not aligned for the pre-drilled holes (4") of the vanity top. I bent them slightly and it fitted but I got the feeling that if i bent them too much they might cause a leak at a joint. |
